We knew the SMCHA Halloween Playday would be great when the fog lifted minutes before the Star Spangled Banner. Thirty-three riders showed up at the Mounted Patrol Grounds on Halloween Day to compete in twelve different horseback events. We rode barrels, poles, relay races, an obstacle course and were even dragged on a sled by a mounted rider. The day included a spectacular lunch and good, friendly competion. When the dust settled, we collected our prizes, settled our horses and headed for an evening of trick-or-treat, tired but satisfied with new friends and new found riding skills.
